"I am living out my life in my corner, taunting myself with the spiteful and useless consolation that an intelligent man cannot become anything seriously, and it is only the fool who becomes anything....A man ought to be pre-eminently a characterless creature; a man of character, an active man, is pre-eminently a limited creature." -Notes from the Underground, F. Dostoevsky

First Authorized Account of LDS Women

Oh, joyous news! The First Presidency, our dear priesthood leaders, have authorized the publication of a story about their women, daughters in their kingdom. Meant to be distributed to all 6 MILLION adult LDS women across the world (Wow!), it is "a recipe book for how to be a Latter-day Saint woman."

Did I ever think this day would come? No, I did not.

Sure, people have written about LDS women before. LDS women have written about LDS women before. But it was all in secret. Those unauthorized versions circulated for years, passed around furtively, in dark corners, at ERA meetings and in clandestine prayer circles to Heavenly Mother. We all hoped that someday we could come out into the light and be recognized for who we are: authorized Mormon women.

That day has now come.
